New way to hold a rifle?

I was screwing around aiming it the other day and i tried holding it with my front hand wrapping my index middle finger and thumb around the front of the barrel instead of just holding onto the grip and found that this allowed me to control the gun in a new way because it allows me to accuratley shoot things by just pointing my hand and stretching my arm at it and its a much faster way to aim at things from many different angles. What do you guys think? try it. i know it sounds stupid and i already know the proper and conventional way to hold a rifle. are there any other non conventional but used ways?
