Is the unemployment appeals board considered "court"?
I am filling our a background check for a potential new job. I was asked "have you ever been a defendant in a civil suit?". I have not been a defendant in a conventional civil suit but I have gone before a judge at the appeals stage for the unemployment board. The CA EDD sided with me after the initial complaint and I won the appeal as well, so I don't mind producing the paperwork. I'm just not sure whether I need to since it wasn't conventional court. Can anyone help me out. I really want this job and want to make sure I'm being honest.
