AP US HIstory question!?

This is a shot in the dark-- from what I remember of (last months) APUSH lectures, during the Gilded Age, many companies were merging, and there was the rise of the mega-corporation, like the acquisitions made by J.P. Morgan as his company controlled even Carnegie Steel it got so large. Because of that, I would expect the management system to be shifting away from small, independent companies to great big corporations.
